Payment for the lecture:  BRL 300.00 (three hundred reais).  The amount is paid up to the day before the lecture.

 

Registration for the lecture is confirmed through a deposit, bank transfer or payment made directly at Espaço Cor.  Payment entitles you to a 7-hour lecture.  The lecture is not cumulative: once lost due to absence, there is no replacement at another time or reimbursement of the amount paid.

ABOUT THE COURSE FACILITATOR – MARCELLUS NISHIMOTO  

 

Marcellus Nishimoto studied Visual Communication and Graphic Design at the University of Brasilia (1999), the city where he lived for 17 years. Grandson of Japanese people, who provided the artist with direct contact with Japanese culture, in 2008 Nishimoto returned to his hometown, Goiânia, where he now lives and works.

 

Nishimoto works as a designer and art director in the fields of fashion, branding, editorial design and illustration. He also taught at a higher level in several graphic design disciplines (History of Art and Design, Typography, Graphic Analysis, Projects and TCC Guidance).  He currently develops teaching work in the areas of traditional drawing and painting, in addition to working as a designer and visual artist.

 

From an early age, Nishimoto was interested in semiotics—the study of the meaning of symbols and images, as well as the visual arts. Currently, he dedicates himself to design and art independently. His works seek the origin — his own and ours —, the understanding of the human essence and the time that is so ephemeral to us. In his works, the artist explores these themes with traditional Western and Eastern techniques, including ink pointillism, watercolor, drawing (in all its modalities) and sumi-ê (ancient oriental painting technique).

 

His works are visibly laborious with traditional techniques, in order to capture and make visible the immaterial: time and the meaning of life. The artist has already participated in several group and individual exhibitions in Goiânia and has his works included in collections in several places in Brazil and abroad.  

 

COURSE OBJECTIVE   

 

The aim of the course is to approach the various stages of Baroque and Rococo. The main artistic creations of these periods of art will be presented, with explanations about the works, the artists and the historical and social moment of the context. There will be a technical and critical analysis of the artistic productions and a discussion of the cultural impact that these works produced on society: their direct influences on the behavior and customs of each period.

FROM COUNTER-REFORM TO THE CONSOLIDATION OF ABSOLUTISM

- The Catholic Counter-Reformation

- The Naturalism of Caravaggio (1571-1610) and Velázquez (1599-1660)

- The Court of Louis XIV: The age of etiquette

- Academicism

- The golden age of Dutch art

- The Rococo (from 1720 to 1770): a hedonistic and profane universe

- The Enlightenment

DURATION

 

The lecture lasts 7 hours, the first part taking place from 9 am to 12 pm and the second part from 2 pm to 6 pm.
